Closure of IT Services Labs in Haslegrave building
by Rich Goodman - Wednesday, 26 May 2010, 04:32 PM
IT Services have closed their Haslegrave labs (N3.12, N3.26, N3.28) from today, 26th May. Having explored all alternatives, we regret that we have no choice but to close these rooms, in order to progress the development work described below. We apologise for the necessarily short notice of these changes.

Computer Science labs are not affected by these closures.

Closing these labs allows us to begin the extensive remodelling of IT services for students. We are moving the two IT Services labs to the Ground Floor of Haslegrave, and providing a brand new custom designed lab in time for the 2010-11 academic year. The lab, full of large screen iMacs, will be able to run Windows, MacOS and Linux, so you can use whichever system you feel the most comfortable with.

The Student PC Clinic will also move to the Ground Floor, providing support in an open area designed for group work with full wireless connectivity.

Availability of Computers and Printers

There are many computer labs throughout the campus, a map showing all their locations is available here:

As a temporary measure, we have installed a small number of computers in Haslegrave N3.14, which is close to both the printers (in N3.25) and the PC Clinic and Service Desk in N3.12. These computers are available for short stay usage and printing only.

You can still print using the secure LBORO wireless network to the Haslegrave IT-mono and IT-colour printers in N3.25.

The PC Clinic will be open through the break, although the hours will be reduced, keep an eye on our website for updates:

We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Best wishes, IT Services
