Welcome to Learn 2010-2011!
by Charles Shields - Tuesday, 20 July 2010, 04:25 PM

The 'rollover' to Learn 2010-2011 is now complete - a big thank you to Garry Booth, Rich Goodman and Greg Milsted of the E-learning Systems team in IT Services for all their hard work.

Most of you won't really notice that it has changed - your module pages and resources should look/remain the same.

During the rollover, modules from the current academic year on Learn have been archived and are no longer editable by staff. However, staff and students are still able to view past module resources on Learn.

Only students and staff who were registered on the module last year are able to access the archived module. Students taking the new 2010/11 version of a module are unable to access the 2009/10 version of that module (unless they were registered on that module last year).

Staff: All your module material has been transferred to the 2010/11 modules on Learn, and you are now able to edit materials for the 2010/11 academic year. If you have activities in your module they will have been copied across too. When new students are registered to your module they will be automatically added to your activities. The exception will be any activities you have created using groups. New students will need to be allocated into your pre-existing groups as you see fit.

The MyModules page contains a link to the 2009-10 edition of Learn so that everyone can consult their modules from last session.

Students are now able to log in and view their upcoming module material, as well as getting access to module results and details of any forthcoming exams (resits during the Special Assessment period). They are still able to access 2009-2010 module material in preparation for the Special Assessment period.

If you have any concerns or issues to report please e-mail learn@lboro.ac.uk as soon as possible.

Notable enhancements to Learn for 2010-2011:

  • Learn now uses a new text editor which works with the Safari and Google Chrome web browsers. The new text editor also makes it much easier to include Flash animations in your module materials.
  • The new theme is now available as an option to all users (the little boxes with 1 and 2 below the A+ and A- buttons).
  • The category structure on the front page has been rationalised.
